In my project, I explore how historical wallpaper design can serve as a source of inspiration for contemporary creations. By researching four key design periods – Rococo, Classicism, Gustavian style and the Arts and Crafts movement, I have developed a series of new wallpaper patterns that reinterpret traditional aesthetics in a modern context. The designs were produced at Boråstapeters wallpaper factory, merging historical inspiration with industrial production.
The finished wallpapers are also featured in my own collection book, offering a curated presentation of the project. This work pays homage to the timeless qualities of past design idioms and underlines the cultural and decorative importance of wallpaper in interior design. My goal is to demonstrate that history remains a powerful tool for creative expression and that old traditions can inform and enrich the visual language of the future.
